Bobby Flay Loses Throwdown To Wing King

Last night on Food Network’s show “Throwdown With Bobby Flay“, Drew “The Wing King” Cerza took down Bobby Flay in a chicken wing cookoff. Drew was initially contacted by Food Network producers to host an episode of a new show called “Hall of Fame” that would feature the history of the Buffalo Wing and give Drew the opportunity to show off his beloved hometown.

After a day and a half of touring Greater Buffalo and talking about all things wing, Drew set up his burners at The Anchor Bar to serve up his latest wing concoction, Bourbon Street Buffalo Wings.

…and in walked the proprietor of Mesa Grill and nationally renowned chef, Bobby Flay.

On last night’s show, the results were finally revealed. Drew was able to take down one of America’s greatest chefs with a wing that was perfectly cooked, sweet, and spicy.

A good night for Buffalo as a national audience was shown the best parts of our fair city while learning a little about the National Wing Festival and Buffalo’s most famous food export.

I’m guessing that if the judges were Buffalonians, they didn’t want any of that frou frou chipotle crap on their wings.

I think Bobby Flay learned the biggest lesson of all when cooking up the Buffalo fave… never bread the wings! ;)

You know buffalo wings are famous world wide. When I was working at Tops I had a family stop me and ask where to get good wings. They had flown in from INDIA and made a detour here from DC just to get to try the Buffalo wings. I asked who had told them about the wings and they mentioned that it was part of their plan all along to come here just for the wings. Not the Falls but the wings.
